1988 saw the release of Bubble Bobble
(also known as, Final Bubble Bobble, Dragon Maze) on the DOS system. A action
game, created by Taito Corporation and distributed by Taito Software Inc. If
you like arcade, download, install and enjoy Bubble Bobble
One of the most popular arcade games ever
made, Taito's Bubble Bobble tells a story of Bub and Bob, two friends who are
changed into bubble dragons, and must save their girlfriends from a super
baddie named Hyper Drunk. Game play, like all good arcade games, is easy to
learn: you (and your friend in a 2-player game) blow bubbles to capture baddies,
Then quickly pop them. When the bubbles are popped, fruit comes out for you to
collect (and compete against your friend for points). The game is very simple
in concept, but incredibly addictive due to spotless controls, quirky levels,
bosses, and monsters, and overall fun. I remember playing this games for hours,
thinking "just one more level before I go to bed" -- and next thing I
know, it's wee hours of the next day. This PC version done by Nova Logic is an
excellent conversion of the original, although of course the graphics are
reduced to EGA only. With a truly classic design, it's no wonder that Bubble
Bobble is alive and well: there have been many sequels and spin-offs, although
none for the PC except for the excellent 1996 remake, also on this site. A
must-have!
Puzzle Bobble, also known as Bust-a-Move,
is a 1994 arcade puzzle game (for 1 or 2 players) created by Taito Corporation.
It is a simple game based on Taito’s popular 1986 arcade game Bubble Bobble,
featuring characters and themes from the original. The game’s
characteristically “cute” Japanese animation and music, along with its
well-balanced mechanics and level design, proved successful in arcades and
spawned several sequels and ports to home gaming systems.
Bubble Bobble was an arcade game released
by Taito in 1986. You have to guide the two hero's Bub and Bob through 100
levels of adventure to rescue their girlfriends. It was one of the first two
player co-operation games (although all co-operation goes out the window when a
50,000 pt diamond goes down the middle of the screen and you race to see who
can get the points first). It was one of the first games to have joystick
combinations that allow you to power-up your original characters. It has
spawned a couple of sequels Rainbow Islands ( a much better, but harder to find
game ) Bubble Symphony, Parasol Stars, Bust-a-Move (aka Puzzle Bobble), and
Bust-A-Move Again (aka Puzzle Bobble ).
